If you come to shop for bows at Encore, you’ll likely hear me talk about how much I like carbon fiber bows for certain applications. When the budget doesn’t allow for a high-quality pernambuco (wood) bow, carbon fiber bows can offer similar performance for lower prices. As and added bonus, carbon fiber bows are durable. How durable? Well, they will certainly withstand being dropped, the occasional smack into a music stand, and a few sword-fighting duels (not recommended). However, they will NOT survive being close in a car door. I offer this picture as a word of warning…
