Now that I am settled in to my new position and John has reintroduced himself, I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself as well.  My name is Rigo Barrozo and I am the new specialist at Encore Orchestra Strings.  I began my journey with Paige’s in June of 2019 as an intern in order to complete my Music Business degree at Indiana State University.  I was then hired as a retail sales associate, and in September of 2021, was given the opportunity to work in Encore.

In telling you who I am, you probably notice John and I have some key things in common!

First and foremost, I’m a Christian.  My faith is at the center of my identify and my hope is that it informs all aspects of my life.  I enjoy reading theology and have considered ministry as a second vocation.  Not anytime soon, though. 🙂

I’m a husband and father (that still sounds crazy to say). My wife Melanie and I were blessed with our first child, Amelia Ruth, in April 2021.

I’m a cellist.  I remember seeing an orchestra on TV, and I pointed to the cello saying,”I want to play that!”  I started in 6th grade orchestra like so many do, and I fell in love with it.  My interest was further kindled after starting private lessons in high school.  Upon deciding engineering school wasn’t for me, and that I was more interested in my cello lessons than class, I decided to pursue music as a career.  At the time, it seemed like a leap of faith, and I feel very fortunate to have landed in such a great company like Paige’s.

I’m a cyclist/amateur bike mechanic.  I mainly mountain bike, and as a kid, I tried to ride my bike over the most dangerous stuff I could find, which my parents absolutely loved.  I’m currently working on building my first bike from the frame up.  I am more than happy to help anyone with bike-related issues. On summer weekends, you can usually find me riding at Brown County State Park.

When I’m not cycling, I enjoy running.  I ran for the track and cross country team at Portage High School, have a couple half-marathons under my belt. I hope to run marathon at some point in my life.

Other enthusiasms include Quentin Tarantino movies and a weird variety of music such as most types of heavy metal, Russian 20th century classical music, Bach, Gregorian chant, Byzantine chant, Lutheran hymns, pop music from the early 2000’s, grunge, etc.  I also enjoy single-origin coffee and finding the perfect grind/water temperature/orientation of the moon that will make the best cup of coffee ever.
